July 18, 2025 – It appears that Elon Musk’s xAI will have a presence in DeSoto County.
Public records show the purchase of 114.49 acres of property at 2875 Stanton Road South in Southaven was completed this week to MZX Tech LLC, which is a Wyoming-based affiliate of Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI. Its address in the document, however, lists a California location that is connected to another xAI affiliate.
xAI Chief Financial Officer Michael Liberatore is the listed representative for MZK Tech LLC in the transmission line agreements.
MZX Tech LLC purchased the property from Stanton Road Peak Properties LLC, a property investment company operating in the Mid-South with a Hernando address.
The former Duke Energy site, apparently bought for just $10, is located near Musk’s Colossus 2 super computer site in Memphis. The date of the transmission easement agreement in the public documents show July 16 as the date.
It’s not been announced what will happen at the Southaven location but activity has been vibrant at the site in recent days as trucks move in and out of the property. THe document stated that MZX Tech LLC will be able to construct transmission lines.
Brent Mayo, xAI’s general manager did not discuss the situation in Southaven when asked after a Memphis Rotary Club appearance recently.
Musk is in the process of establishing his supercomputer at a Memphis site about 1.5 miles from the Southaven property.
