Woman arrested at Tunica casino on attempted murder and kidnapping charge
On Thursday, June 20, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a tip indicating that an individual with outstanding warrants was visiting a casino in Tunica County. Acting on this information, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Amy Perez, 45, of Union County, North Carolina. Perez is wanted on multiple charges, including:
- Courts/Intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses
- Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer
- Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime
- Attempted Murder
- Kidnapping (2 counts)
- Burglary
Following her arrest, Perez was transported to the Tunica County Jail, where she remains in custody. The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with law enforcement officials from Chesterfield County, South Carolina, regarding the apprehension of Perez. Chesterfield County, SC – May 29, 2024
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a female and her 8-year-old son being forcibly taken from a residence in the Jefferson area. After approximately eight hours, both victims were located by Chesterfield County deputies. The adult female was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while her son was unharmed.
Two individuals have been charged in connection with this incident, and additional arrests are anticipated. Sheriff Cambo Streater commended the quick action and dedication of the responding deputies. He also expressed gratitude to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Union County North Carolina Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for their support and assistance with this case.
