Wanted man captured, turned over to federal authorities

March 25, 2025 – A man wanted by federal authorities last week was arrested in DeSoto County and turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Information just now made available by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department indicates the U.S. Marshals Service had contacted the Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigations Division in their search for Arturo Bonilla, wanted on a federal drug distribution arrest warrant.

The Marshals Service said Bonilla’s car was found in DeSoto County, thus the reason for the request for assistance.

A deputy found Bonilla’s vehicle parked in front of a residence, and later Bonilla was taken into custody at the location.

During the arrest, methamphetamine was found in plain view, officials said, so a search warrant was obtained that led to the seizure of a large quantity of meth, pills, and other narcotics inside the residence.

Bonilla was arrested and turned over to the Marshal’s Service. Five other people were also arrested and are facing charges in connection with the narcotics discovery and a stolen firearm that was found during the search.
