Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Opens in Olive Branch

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall officially opened at the George M. Harrison Municipal Soccer Complex in Olive Branch this morning. The opening ceremony included remarks from Olive Branch Mayor and DeSoto County Supervisor Ken Adams, as well as guest speaker Mark Lyndon Gardner.

The memorial will be accessible to the public around the clock until 7 a.m. Monday, June 8. Several special programs are scheduled during the display, including a “Heroes Celebration” on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m., a candlelight vigil Saturday at 9 p.m., and a closing ceremony Sunday at 2 p.m.

Mayor Adams and the Olive Branch Board of Aldermen expressed gratitude to those who worked to bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to the city. They also acknowledged the sacrifices made by service members to preserve the freedoms enjoyed today, according to the city.
