U.S. News & World Report names Baptist-DeSoto as a High Performing Hospital
U.S. News & World Report recently recognized Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto as a High Performing Hospital for seven procedures and conditions.
Baptist DeSoto earned high-performing ratings for heart attack, congestive heart failure, diabetes, kidney failure, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia.
“Recognition from U.S. News & World Report as a High Performing Hospital is a great honor,” said Brian Hogan, administrator and CEO of Baptist DeSoto. “This recognition demonstrates the excellence of our staff who work diligently to provide the most advanced care for patients in our community.”
Now in the 34th year, the annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures. For the 2023–2024 rankings and ratings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialties, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. State and metro area rankings reflect the highest performing hospitals in the area across multiple areas of care.
“A recent survey of U.S. News users revealed more than four in five consider a hospital’s quality metrics to be important factors when deciding where to seek treatment for a serious medical issue,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Consumers want useful resources to help them assess which hospital can best meet their specific care needs. The 2023–2024 Best Hospitals rankings offer patients and the physicians with whom they consult a data-driven source for comparing performance in outcomes, patient satisfaction and other metrics that matter to them.”
U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures, such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology factors in data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists.
