Trio represents at Miss Black Mississippi USA Pageant

July 31 – Three young women are representing North Mississippi in the upcoming Miss Black Mississippi USA Pageant.

North Mississippians Kendal Moseley, Miss Black North Mississippi Talented Teen, Olivia Tanner, Miss Black North Mississippi and Andrea Toney, Ms. Black North Mississippi, are headed to compete Sept. 2, 2024 on the campus of Belhaven University.

The ladies have been preparing and participating in community events while being students and advocates since their crowning in January. If they win the State titles, they will advance to the National Miss Black USA title, held in August of next year in Washington, D.C.

Kendal Moseley is a recent graduate of the Mississippi School for the Arts and will attend Northwest Mississippi Community College in the fall. Her platform is “Art Angels”, an art appreciation and advocacy program. Her goal is to provide the importance of art education in schools. Kendal is a resident of Southaven.

Olivia Tanner, a junior Chemistry/Pre-Optometry major at the University of Mississippi, represents North Mississippi by the way of her being a student. Her platform is “All Eyes on Me”, educating her community on Myositis disorder. Ms. Tanner has educated the community on this rare disease that she was diagnosed with since birth.

Andrea Toney is a retired Army combat veteran and full-time parent. She is a resident of Hernando. Her platform is advocating for the importance of Literacy through hosting book drives and speaking engagements around the topic. She is actively involved with Memphis Power Fellows, Stand for All, Memphis for All, The Equity Alliance, Black Voter’s Matter, Hernando Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7531, and Hernando Middle School PTA. Her goal as Queen is to continue the fight and advocate for the importance of her platform.

The Queens are headed to compete on the State Pageant stage for the titles of Miss Black Mississippi USA Talented Teen, Miss Black Mississippi USA and Ms. Black Mississippi USA on Sept. 2.
