Train derails in Tunica County
June 15, 2025 – A train derailed Monday afternoon near Highway 3 in Tunica County, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.
The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about the derailment around 3:29 p.m. Deputies and first responders arrived on the scene and confirmed that multiple train cars had gone off the tracks. Two people were aboard the train at the time, but neither reported any injuries, according to Pafford EMS.
Canadian National Railway, the operator of the train, confirmed that while two of the cars were carrying hazardous materials, those cars remained on the track and were not involved in the derailment. Authorities say there is no threat to public safety.
CN Railway and the Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
