Tornado watch issued for area; safe room opened

Local officials said a tornado watch for the area was issued Sunday at 4 p.m. and will remain in effect until 11 p.m. CDT.

The Community Safe Room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to all residents and will remain available for the duration of the watch, officials said.

Officials urged residents to monitor the weather closely and be prepared to take immediate shelter if a tornado is reported.
