Teen charged with aggravated assault after shooting at father
HORN LAKE, Miss. — A 19-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly firing shots at his father during a domestic dispute Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to the Home Stay Inn on Interstate Boulevard around 6 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Reports have the suspect, identified as Joshua Ennis Jr., involved in a heated argument with his father, Joshua Ennis Sr., when the situation turned violent.
Ennis Jr. allegedly produced a handgun and fired two shots at his father. Ennis Sr. was not struck by the gunfire, and no other injuries were reported at the scene.

Following the shooting, Ennis Jr. fled the area on foot. Officers quickly established a perimeter and discovered the teenager hiding under a vehicle in a nearby parking lot. A police K-9 unit was utilized to sweep the area, successfully locating the firearm discarded nearby.
Ennis Jr. was taken into custody without further incident and has been charged with aggravated assault.
As of Thursday, Ennis Jr. is being held at the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center. Jail records indicate that no bond has currently been set. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in DeSoto County Circuit Court on Feb. 5.
The investigation into the motive behind the altercation remains ongoing.
