Supervisors, aldermen meeting previews

DeSoto County Board of Supervisors

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors’ March 2 agenda features presentations honoring Capt. Johnathon Bigham, a report on circuit clerk excess revenue, and routine approvals of February minutes and agenda changes. A large consent docket covers road reports, bond updates, inventory dispositions, seized‑fund transfers, credit‑card authorizations, procurement bids, contract renewals, records disposal, uniform reimbursements, and Spring Clean Up (April 11–19). Supervisors will also enter items into the formal record, including the Agri‑Education Center contract extension and Project Shotgun MOU. New business includes support letters, appointments, a JAG grant, claims, budget amendments, solid‑waste requests, and planning cases, followed by an executive session.

Southaven Board of Aldermen

Southaven’s Board of Aldermen will meet March 3 to consider a resolution ratifying an emergency expenditure, authorize seeking bids for the Fire Station No. 3 expansion, and review a street‑sweeping contract with Sweeping Corp. of America. The agenda includes BankPlus Amphitheater sponsorships, utilities and IT surplus resolutions, engineering work authorizations, and Snowden Grove fence bids. Two Provost, LLC planning items tied to Nail Road developments are up for review. Officials will also consider a Secret Service/Homeland Security plotter donation, personnel matters, legal updates, and claims before entering executive session on land acquisition and economic development.

Olive Branch Board of Aldermen 

The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen on March 3 will take up a wide-ranging agenda that includes dozens of consent items, major community donations, and several public safety and public works purchases. The board will consider renewing software and service agreements, approving equipment buys such as a John Deere compact track loader and CP40G cold planer, and accepting donations for police, animal control, and city programs. Planning items include the Sullivan Minor Subdivision final plat. Aldermen will review bids for municipal depository services and the Old Towne sewer rehabilitation project, and consider a Stateline Road improvement agreement before entering executive session for personnel and litigation matters.

Hernando Board of Aldermen

Hernando’s Board of Aldermen on March 3 will review claims dockets, approve Feb. 17 meeting minutes, and consider a series of travel and training requests for city staff, including Fire, Utilities, Community Development, and the Mississippi Department of Health’s childcare training event at the Gale Center. The agenda includes personnel and donation dockets, recognition of the Hernando Middle School boys soccer team, and end‑of‑year reports from Police, Animal Control, and Court. Aldermen will take up a Winningham PUD revision, an EWP loan extension, a $750,000 GO note for Gale Center repairs, a grant‑funded change order, new bank signatories, and termination of the winter storm emergency declaration, before entering executive session for personnel matters.
