Silo Square welcomes South Point Grocery
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — South Point Grocery celebrated its grand opening Thursday in Silo Square with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
As earlier reported, plans for the store in Southaven were first announced in September of last year.
The store, operated by Castle Retail Group, offers a full-service deli, in-house butcher, and an extensive craft beer selection. Shoppers will also find a wide variety of locally sourced products alongside everyday essentials, reflecting the company’s commitment to blending convenience with community flavor.
South Point Grocery is designed as a neighborhood grocery store, emphasizing customer experience and accessibility over the big-box model. The Silo Square location joins Castle Retail Group’s portfolio, which includes South Point Grocery in downtown Memphis, High Point Grocery, and three Cash Saver stores across the Mid-South.

Castle Retail Group is led by CEO Rick James, a veteran of the grocery industry with more than four decades of experience. James began working in grocery stores at age 15 and later held leadership roles at Kroger, Malone & Hyde, and Piggly Wiggly before acquiring and transforming local stores into Cash Saver outlets in 2011. He launched South Point Grocery in Memphis in 2021, bringing back the neighborhood grocery concept to urban communities.
James described the Southaven opening as a “full-circle moment,” having first worked in Southaven in the 1980s before building Castle Retail Group into a regional grocery leader.
“We want to create a store that feels like part of the neighborhood, where customers know they’ll find quality, convenience, and a personal touch,” James said.
