Southaven shooting suspect captured, facing attempted murder charge
Oct. 17, 2024 – A Southaven man is being held on attempted murder and armed robbery charges after his arrest Thursday. Detrich Neal, age 20 of Southaven, is believed to be connected to a shooting incident on Monday, Oct. 14 in Southaven.
Police say officers were called on Monday to a call of a shooting in the 1700 block of Dorchester Drive. Responding officers were told a shooting victim was at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto with a gunshot wound and was in stable condition.
In the investigation, Neal was identified as the suspect in the shooting case. He was found walking in the area of Tchulahoma and Heather Ridge. A foot chase began and Detrich was reported able to flee into a wood line. Police said he was taken into custody shortly after that without incident.
