UPDATE: Suspect identified in Burton Lane fatal shooting, victim was Baltimore comedian
UPDATE: Monday morning, Aug. 25, Southaven police announced that Tranell Marquise Williams, age 38 of Southaven, has been charged in connection with the murder of Reginald Carroll. Williams was booked into the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center on Thursday, Aug. 21 and is being held with no bond set. A court date of Aug. 27 has been scheduled in the case.
UPDATE: Southaven police Saturday, Aug. 23 released the name of the victim in Wednesday’s Burton Lane shooting incident as Reginald Carroll, age 52, of Maryland. Police said a suspect taken into custody has been charged with murder. It was added the investigation into the incident was continuing and limited information about could be released at this time.
Carroll was a comedian from Baltimore, Maryland, according to a CBS News Baltimore report.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — A shooting in Southaven on Wednesday evening has left one man dead, police said.
Officers responded to the Burton Lane area around 6 p.m. for what authorities described as an “isolated shooting.” The victim was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis for treatment but later died from his injuries, according to Southaven Police.
One man has been detained as a person of interest and is being questioned by investigators. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public, but the scene remained active for several hours as officers gathered evidence.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
