Southaven highlights National Parks and Recreation Month in July

The Southaven Parks and Recreation Department said July is National Parks and Recreation Month and highlighted its staff’s work to keep parks open and usable.

The department said it employs more than 50 people who maintain facilities, grounds and fields and operate sports programs.

The department called the parks system one of the city’s most valuable assets and said providing safe, clean green spaces allows families, friends and neighbors to enjoy the outdoors and build community.

The department encouraged residents to visit neighborhood parks, walk the city’s multi-use trails or attend local games, and said it hopes people enjoy what Southaven has to offer.
