Southaven firefighter describes adoption hurdles after four miscarriages

Michael House, a firefighter and paramedic with the city of Southaven, Mississippi, told the podcast Motivate With Coach Camp that he and his wife are pursuing adoption after experiencing four miscarriages.

House said the couple had two children without problems but faced complications during the third pregnancy. He told the podcast that over the next few years the couple suffered four miscarriages, which eroded their confidence about trying again.

The episode notes that adoption carries substantial financial and logistical hurdles. The podcast cited a statistic that nearly half of pregnancies end in miscarriage, and House described the emotional and practical challenges the family faced during their decision to adopt.

House told the podcast he has no regrets and that the couple has moved forward with plans to adopt their daughter’s half-brother. The episode encourages listeners who want to help to donate to a GoFundMe titled “Bring Baby House Home,” according to the podcast.

The episode was recorded at SRP Studios and produced by Shelby Row Productions LLC, the podcast said. Motivate With Coach Camp said listeners can find the episode and related content on its website, YouTube, Facebook, Apple and Spotify.
