Southaven aldermen to meet Tuesday evening
Southaven aldermen meet for their first regular meeting since the new board took over on Tuesday, July 6 at Southaven City Hall.
William Jerome is the new alderman for Ward 3 as George Payne won election as Alderman-at-Large. The former Ward 3 representative, Payne ran for and was elected as Alderman-a-Large, the seat that became open when William Brooks chose not to run for re-election.
The rest of the board will remain the same as they all won re-election, as well as Mayor Darren Musselwhite.
Tuesday’s meeting will begin with an executive session concerning citywide personnel and appointments.
Once back in open session, there will be a selection of a Mayor Pro-Tem and selection of city personnel appointments, including police chief, fire chief, city prosecutors, city judges, city clerks, city public defenders, city court clerk, deputy court clerk, city attorney, and assistant deputy city clerks.
Much of the appointments should be a renewal of people already in those positions and is a matter of course for the new municipal year.
City Planning Commissioners and City Election Commissioners will also be approved.
The Tuesday board agenda will also include a move to the Parks Building at Snowden Grove as a new polling location for Ward 5 municipal elections. The current location is Fire Station #4 on Getwell Road.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the board room of Southaven City Hall.
