Southaven aldermen set special meetings

Southaven aldermen will be meeting on consecutive days on separate issues this week, as special meetings have been called for by Mayor Darren Musselwhite.

The first meeting is Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at City Hall and the discussion will consider the budget. Aldermen will hold a budget hearing as it nears a final decision on the Fiscal Year 2022-23 city budget.

The following morning, Wednesday, Aug. 24, aldermen and Mayor Musselwhite will return to City Hall for what is being termed “Rental Property Ordinance Discussion.” At the last regular board meeting, Musselwhite said he wasn’t ready to support a rental property ordinance, but there were some members of the board that wanted to pursue the issue further, hence Wednesday’s meeting.

The rental property ordinance discussion will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning and is expected to take a couple of hours.
