Resolution honors missing Vietnam veteran from Olive Branch

The Mississippi Senate on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, presented Senate Resolution 55 to honor the memory of Vietnam War hero James Henry Taylor of Olive Branch, who was never heard from again after March 16, 1962, when the Flying Tiger Line Flight 739 he rode on, while on a secret military mission, disappeared, and was never found, family members said. None of the 93 United States Army soldiers and 11 civilian crew members, were ever seen again, family members said.

Very little is known about what happened to the plane and its passengers, and due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the mission, the names of those lost have not yet been added to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., family said. Surviving family members accepted the resolution from Sens. Jeff Tate, Tyler McCaughn and Michel McLendon.
