Pair arrested in connection with chop shop operation, auto theft
Shelby County authorities Thursday announced that arrests have been made in a case where the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office worked in partnership with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the BRATS (Burglary, Robbery, Auto Theft) division in Shelby County conducted a search warrant on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the 3300 block of Melodywood Drive. The search warrant was part of an ongoing auto theft investigation.
During the search, detectives arrested Homer Davis, age 21, as a suspect.
Evidence collected at the scene included a stripped Dodge Challenger, reported stolen from Memphis in October, along with various car parts and tools. Investigators believe these findings indicate that a chop shop- an illegal operation dismantling stolen vehicles for parts-was active on the property. Davis now faces charges of Violation of Chop Shop and Theft of Property valued between $10,000 and $60,000. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail in Memphis.
In connection with this investigation, DeSoto County Special Investigations Unit deputies apprehended Terrion Cobb, age 19 of Horn Lake, and charged him with aggravated assault, eluding law enforcement, and auto theft. Cobb is currently at the DeSoto County Jail without bond.
Shelby County authorities said this is an ongoing investigation, and further arrests are forthcoming.
