Olive Branch Senior Center hosts eighth annual Community Walk for a Cure

The Olive Branch Senior Center hosted its eighth annual Community Walk for a Cure, according to a post from the City of Olive Branch. The city described the gathering as a meaningful day and said participants’ presence, encouragement and support underscored what the community can accomplish by standing together.

The post also shared a reminder from the American Cancer Society that early detection matters. It said regular breast cancer screening can help find the disease before symptoms appear, when treatment is more likely to be successful.

The American Cancer Society recommends that women and men discuss their personal breast cancer risk with a health care provider and follow screening recommendations appropriate to their age and risk, the post said. It encouraged people to know their risk, know their body and stay up to date on screenings.

The city said more information about breast cancer screening and early detection is available from the American Cancer Society. The post was signed by Ken Adams, Olive Branch mayor, and Olive Branch Parks and Recreation.
