Olive Branch, Hernando among top Mississippi suburbs
The digital platform Stacker has released a list of the 10 best suburbs in Mississippi and two DeSoto County cities are included on the list.
As part of the Memphis Metropolitan Statistical Area, DeSoto County cites are considered suburbs of Memphis. In the ranking, Olive Branch and Hernando are included among the top 10 suburbs.
The information for the rankings come from Niche’s 2024 Best Places to Live. Niche ranks places to live based on an array of factors, including the cost of living, educational level of residents, housing costs, and quality of schools.
Olive Branch was ranked 8th among the top suburbs in the state with a median income of $93,762, a median home value of $245,800 and a median rent of $1,504. Eighty-one percent of residents own their home and 19 percent rent.
Hernando was ranked 9th in the list of top Mississippi suburbs with its median household income of $69,761, median home value of $268,900 and median monthly rent of $1,079. Eighty percent of residents own their home and 20 percent rent.
In the list of best suburbs in the Memphis metropolitan area to live, Olive Branch was ranked third and Hernando was fourth. Southaven was ranked fifth in the Memphis metro with a median home value of $197,200 and a median rent of $1,228 a month. Seventy-one percent of Southaven residents own their home and 29 percent rent.
Horn Lake came in at 14th in the Memphis metro.
