Olive Branch airport receives FAA grant funding

The City of Olive Branch has received more than a half-million dollars in federal grant money for its airport, according to information released by U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker’s office on Friday, June 20.

The money is part of $21.48 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants given to Mississippi airports. The funds will support critical improvements such as runway construction, lighting, signage, and terminal improvements to ensure the continued efficiency and safety of the national airspace system.

“Upgrading local air travel is an investment in the future of Mississippi,” said Wicker in a statement. “This funding will bring necessary advancements to our airport systems and provide more business opportunities for Mississippians.”

In Olive Branch, the FAA awarded the airport a total of $546,374 in Fiscal Year 25 Airport Infrastructure Grant Funding, part of over $9.8 million of this type of funding for Mississippi.

Mayor Ken Adams said the funding will be for an additional aviation gas tank to better serve aircraft.

“I am appreciative that Senator Wicker, who is joined by Senator Hyde-Smith and Congressman Kelly realize the importance of aviation in North Mississippi and support Olive Branch Aviation,” Adams said. “Olive Branch Aviation has proven time and time again how valuable it is to economic development in North Mississippi.”
