Northwest Mu Alpha Theta chapter inducts new members

Northwest Mississippi Community College Mu Alpha Theta Chapter inducted 10 new members on April 13. Mu Alpha Theta is a high school and two-year college mathematics honor society for students who take specific mathematics classes and are high achievers.
The requirements for this honor society are that each student must take a mathematics course at the College Algebra level to be eligible for membership. They must have a 3.0 in math courses on a 4.0 grade scale. They can be on any pathway and be a part of this society.
Dr. Carolyn Wiley, associate vice president of Academic Instruction and Institutional Effectiveness excitedly welcomed them to Mu Alpha Theta. Wiley was formerly a math instructor herself.
“Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and two-year college mathematics honor society dedicated to inspiring interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students,” said Jennifer L. Jones, instructor of Mathematics.
The following students were inducted during the spring 2023 induction ceremony: D’Adruin Atkins of Senatobia, Jacob Black of Olive Branch, Akira Demmera Clark of Sledge, Joshua Hayden Lee of Olive Branch, Michaelann Lemons of Holly Springs, Zach Thomas Nowell of Senatobia, Lia Joann Ramos Bonilla of Daphne, Alabama, Brandon Taylor of Canton, Grace Ann Elizabeth of Carthage, and Nathan Woods of Hernando.
