McLendon endorsed by NRA’s political action committee

June 23, 2025 – It’s campaign season for the Republican nod in the Senate District 1 Aug. 5 primary election. Both State Sen. Michael McLendon (R-Hernando) and challenger Jon Stevenson have both been busy getting out to meet voters and putting up signs for supporters in recent week.

McLendon Monday announced he could add an endorsement to his candidacy with that of the political action committee for the National Rifle Association. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has officially endorsed McLendon for re-election. The NRA-PVF awarded Senator McLendon an “A” rating, the highest designation for state legislators.

“Mississippians know I’ll never back down when it comes to protecting their Second Amendment, which has been under siege for years by Democrats,” McLendon said in a statement. “We need leaders at every level willing to stand in the gap, and I intend to continue doing just that in Mississippi.”

The “A” rating from the NRA-PVF reflects McLendon’s voting record, public support for gun rights, and leadership in opposing legislation that would infringe upon the freedoms of law-abiding gun owners.
