Library Pop-Up brings books to senior living residents

By Bob Bakken

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Residents at The Goldton at Southaven enjoyed a unique reading experience when the Southaven Public Library brought books directly to their senior living community for a special pop-up event.
Tables filled with fiction, biographies and other titles gave residents the chance to browse, borrow and share recommendations without leaving home. Library staff assisted with checkouts, helping residents take their selections back to their apartments.

“Having the library come here made it easy for residents to find books they wanted and discover new ones they hadn’t tried before,” said Sonny Pacheco, sales and marketing director of The Goldton at Southaven. “Some were drawn to old favorites, others picked up something unexpected. Seeing them dive into reading and talk about the stories with neighbors reminded me how much joy even simple activities can bring.”

The afternoon was filled with conversation, discovery and a renewed love of reading. The Goldton at Southaven plans to continue partnering with community organizations to offer engaging activities and events for residents.
