Labor Day closings announced
Most government offices are expected to be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5. Schools will also not be in session on Monday for the holiday, most banks are closed that day and the U.S. Postal Service will not provide mail delivery, as Labor Day is a federal holiday.
DeSoto County Government has announced that its offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5. Emergency services will not be impacted by the holiday closing. and the DeSoto County Animal Shelter will be closed to the public on Labor Day.
In a news release, it was announced that garbage and recycling service within the unincorporated areas of DeSoto County will be affected in the coming week.
Waste Pro USA will not provide service on Monday, Sept. 5. Service will be one day late for the remainder of the week, with Monday pickup becoming a Tuesday pickup day, for instance.
County Curbside Rubbish and Debris Collection will also be affected. The County will not pick up on Monday. Regularly scheduled routes will run Tuesday-Friday.
The DeSoto County Rubbish Facilities at 5255 West Sandidge Road in Olive Branch will be closed Monday. The rubbish pit will be open on all other regularly scheduled days.
In Olive Branch, City buildings will be closed on Monday but emergency services will not be affected. Waste Connections will be on a one-day delayed schedule next week as well.
Hernando and Southaven also will have a one-day delayed schedule for garbage and recycling.
