Horn Lake man sentenced for armed robbery and aggravated assault
A 34-year-old Horn Lake man is facing 30 years in prison after his conviction on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges,
A jury Tuesday, May 14 found Marcus Fields guilty for holding up the Neighborhood Walmart Market Money Center at gunpoint with a semiautomatic firearm in July 2022.
The judge in the case then sentenced Fields to 30 years in state prison.
Fields allegedly gave a note to an associate demanding all of the cash in the drawer, reportedly telling the associate, “Don’t make me kill you. Give me all the money.”
When Fields left the store, prosecutors said he was in possession of more than $12,000.
Horn Lake police detectives identified Fields in their investigation with a debit card and a firearm left at the scene. They also tracked a black Pontiac used for the escape, a vehicle captured on MDOT traffic camera footage.
The Horn Lake Police Department investigated this case with assistance from investigators from the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Willcutt and Ben Weathers prosecuted the case.
“Our office is going to hit hard against those who endanger the lives of others in DeSoto County,” said District Attorney Matthew Barton in a news release.
