Update: Horn Lake man among arrests in Tunica murder case
Tunica County authorities say three men have been arrested in connection with the July 3 murder of a Tunica man, adding more arrests may be forthcoming. One of the men arrested is a Horn Lake man.
The four have been charged in the death of Jimmy Dotson of Tunica, also known as “He-Man,” according to authorities. Dotson was killed at Mexico Grill on Highway 61 North in Tunica. Dotson was shot as a result of a fight outside the restaurant. First responders treated Dotson at the scene but he later died.
Among the four arrests is Robert Earl Fleming, age 26 of Horn Lake, who has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. Fleming is currently being held in the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges and facing indictment.
According to the DeSoto County Jail website, those charges include gang participation, conspiracy to commit shoplifting, shoplifting, conspiracy to possess a controlled substance and possession, and being a fugitive from justice.
The others arrested in the Dotson case are Quinterrance Vardaman, age 25 of Tunica, Charlie Bass, age 28 of Tunica, and Jasean French, age 36 of Coldwater.
Vardaman has been charged with first degree murder. Tunica County authorities said Vardaman was arrested and charged on Oct. 12, 2020 for the murder of Trevon Bell at the Kirby Estates Apartments in Robinsonville but has not been indicted. Vardaman also has a first degree murder charge out of Memphis and has been arrested in Texas as a fugitive from justice. Bass has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
Jasean French, age 36 of Coldwater. was arrested on July 31 and is currently being held in jail. French was denied bond and is charged with French has been charged with first degree murder, a felon carrying a concealed weapon, and other charges.
On Thursday, Aug. 3, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office announced deputies had arrested Jamesishia Brown, age 25 of Tunica, in reference to the Dotson shooting. Brown has been arrested with multiple felony charges including:
• 1 count – tampering with evidence
• 1 count – possession of a stolen firearm
• 3 counts – hindering prosecution
Brown was arrested after a search warrant was served at her residence, as well as on Jimmy Dotson’s vehicle, which she has had possession of since the Dotson shooting.
Brown is being held at the Tunica County Detention Center. She will be taken before a judge for an initial bond hearing.
