Holiday Parades Bring Festive Spirit Across DeSoto County

DeSoto County, Miss. – Christmas cheer swept across the county Saturday as Southaven, Olive Branch, and Walls each hosted their annual holiday parades, drawing families and community groups together to celebrate the season.

In Southaven, the city marked its 45th annual Christmas Parade with the theme “Candy Cane Lane.” Floats, horse-drawn carriages, and marching bands from Southaven High, DeSoto Central, and Horn Lake High filled Highway 51 and Main Street before ending at City Hall, where the Santa’s Workshop Family Festival offered photos with Santa, hot cocoa, food trucks, and crafts. Proceeds benefited the Hope Center, supporting local families.

Later in the afternoon, Olive Branch brought the magic of holiday films to life with its parade theme “A Merry Movie Christmas.” Floats inspired by beloved Christmas movies rolled through Old Towne, accompanied by marching bands, festive characters, and community groups. Families also enjoyed selfies with Santa at City Hall before the parade began.

Meanwhile, Walls hosted its Christmas Parade at noon, adding to the day’s lineup of holiday festivities. The small-town celebration featured decorated floats, local organizations, and plenty of holiday spirit for residents lining the streets.

The holiday parade season continues Monday evening in Hernando, where the city will hold its annual Christmas Parade through the historic square.

Together, the parades highlight the strong sense of community across DeSoto County, offering families a chance to gather, celebrate, and usher in the holiday season with tradition and joy.
