Hernando’s Dickens of a Christmas Declared a Festive Success

HERNANDO, MS – The city of Hernando ushered in the holiday season with resounding success this past weekend as the annual Dickens of a Christmas event drew enthusiastic crowds to enjoy a perfect mix of festive cheer and community spirit.

The event, which transforms Hernando’s historic core into a scene reminiscent of a classic Dickensian Christmas, was praised for its idyllic atmosphere, ideal weather, and diverse offerings.

“The day has gone wonderful,” commented Gia Matheny, Hernando’s Community Development Director and the main event organizer. “We couldn’t have asked for better weather for this time of year.”

Matheny noted the strong positive reception from attendees across all demographics. “The music, the arts, the culture, the people, and the kids seem to be having such a great time. It’s just a good experience for Hernando.”

The event organizer also highlighted a clear trend of growing popularity for Hernando’s weekend activities. Matheny confirmed that the Dickens of a Christmas is steadily establishing itself as a premier regional event.

“Since it’s a newer event, it takes a little while for it to kind of pick up and snowball with the number of people that come in,” Matheny explained. “It’s really starting to pick up. So, I’m very proud of that.”

The success of this year’s event affirms the city’s commitment to providing high-quality cultural experiences that attract both residents and visitors, further boosting Hernando’s reputation as a festive destination during the holidays.
