Hernando Water Tower 10K/Half Marathon race results

Bailey Hunt of Senatobia was the overall winner of the Hernando Water Tower half-marathon race Saturday morning in Hernando. The half-marathon was a new addition for the annual event that has previously been a 10-kilometer race only.
Hunt ran the race in a time of 1:27.36 and outran second-place finisher Aiden Patterson of New Albany, who finished in a time of 1:31.13.
The top female finisher was third overall, as Chloe Casto, age 24 of O’Fallon, Missouri, ran the 10 kilometers in a time of 1:31.15.
The top DeSoto County overall finisher in the half-marathon was Landon Bigham of Hernando, who was sixth overall in a time of 1:35.51 and won the age 25-29 division.
Andrew Whitten of Hernando took first in the Male 20-24 division with a time of 1:44.00. Tommy Bennett of Hernando was first in the Male 40-44 age division with a time of 1:49.30. Olive Branch runner Robert Lyle was first for male runners aged 50-54 with a time of 1:39.26 and Hernando runner Robert Barber was first among male runners in the age 60-64 division.
A 13-year-old runner from Senatobia won the 10-kilometer race, as Sawyer Sitzes finished in a time of 40:06, just ahead of second-place winner Braden D’Agostino, a 16-year-old runner also of Senatobia, who came to the finish line in a time of 40:07. The third-place finisher was Aiden Hoshell of Hernando with a time of 40:21.
The top female runner was Rylee Fullwood of Como, who was 11th overall in a time of 42:22. Amy Mitchell of Senatobia was the second female runner and 13th overall at 44:16.
DeSoto County 10K division winners included Jacob Waller of Hernando, first in the Male 15-19 division (41:48), Savannah Barnes of Hernando, first in the female 25-29 division (50:01), Jordan of Simpson of Hernando, first in the female 30-34 division (50:02), Richard Carter, first in the male 50-59 division (41:34); Jay Montross of Southaven, first in the male 60-64 division (56:04); and Cort Hollett of Olive Branch, first in the male 65-69 division (49:22).
The Hernando Water Tower 10K race began in 2009. Race proceeds benefit the Hernando Excel By 5’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This program promotes early literacy by providing one free, age-appropriate book monthly to enrolled children in the City of Hernando from one month old until they turn five years old.
