Hernando man jailed in Memphis

A Hernando man is jailed in Memphis charged with trying to run over a police officer on July 4.

Orlando Davie, age 24 of Hernando, is charged with attempted murder, vandalism and evading arrest. Jail information has not posted a hearing date for Davie as yet.

LocalMemphis.com reports police were trying to stop Davie at Front and GE Patterson Sunday evening when Davie allegedly was swerving his vehicle and almost striking pedestrians. Davie later crashed into a pickup truck and left the scene, according to reports, and officers pursued him for safety reasons.

Police allege Davie then made eye contact with an officer on a sidewalk and tried to hit him, although the officer was not hit when he took cover.

A photo lineup was where the officer identified Davie as the man who tried to strike him.
