Hernando interstate accident details updated

 More details have been released about an accident involving several vehicles and which clogged traffic on I-55 near Hernando Wednesday afternoon.  

The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports the collision took place about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday on southbound I-55 near the Mississippi Welcome Center/Rest Area south of Hernando. 

A 2017 Ford F-350 truck driven by Michael S. Corr, age 26 of Kosciusko was traveling south on the interstate when the Highway Patrol reported it struck three other vehicles. Those vehicles have been identified as a 2021 GMCSierra driven by Charles D. Stacy, age 66 of Ridgeland, a 2019 Volvo driven by Jacoby L. Rominger, age 37 of Saucier, and a 2015 Peterbilt driven by Hobart S. Paez, age 45 of Brandon. 

Initial reports indicated there were injuries, but Thursday’s update from the Highway Patrol stated there were no injuries in the accident.  

The crash scene resulted in a severe traffic jam for several hours until it could be cleared and vehicles could continue traveling on the southbound lanes of I-55. 

MHP reports the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
