Harbor Freight Tools under construction in Olive Branch

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — Harbor Freight Tools is expanding its footprint in DeSoto County with a new location in Olive Branch, a move that city officials say answers a long-standing request from the community.

“I am delighted that Harbor Freight is opening a store in Olive Branch,” Mayor Ken Adams said. “Numerous residents over the past few years have expressed a need for them to be in Olive Branch. We look forward to their opening.”

The new store is under construction at 6955 Jericho Way, just off Goodman Road, situated on Phase 3, Lot 11 of the Acree Planned Commercial Development subdivision. The 1.65-acre site is being developed by Olive Branch HFT Development LLC.

Director of Planning and Development Venard “Asong” Asongayi outlined the specifications for the 16,830-square-foot facility. The layout will dedicate 10,000 square feet to the retail showroom, with the remaining 6,830 square feet reserved for warehousing the company’s extensive inventory.

“The building, which would be mainly brick and EIFS [Exterior Insulation and Finish System], will face Jericho Way,” Asongayi said.

The site plan includes dual access points to accommodate traffic flow, with entrances from both Jericho Way to the east and James Herbert Drive to the south. To maintain the area’s aesthetic standards, the property will be heavily landscaped. Asongayi noted that an 8-foot high SIMTEK EcoStone fence will be installed to screen the loading dock areas from view along James Herbert Drive.

This will be the second Harbor Freight location in DeSoto County, joining the existing store in Southaven. The California-based retailer is known for its direct-sourcing model, offering tools comparable to Ace Hardware or Tractor Supply Co. at competitive price points.

The project adds to the rapid commercial density growing near the Goodman Road corridor. The site is located near the newly opened Bojangles and 7 Brew Coffee, with a Slim Chickens restaurant also planned for the area.
