Oct. 11, 2024 – A 12-count indictment has been returned by a DeSoto County grand jury against a man accused of sexual battery, child pornography, and sexual battery by an authority figure.
The indictments are against Joshua Anderson of Southaven, arrested and booked into the DeSoto County Jail on Sept. 23 by Southaven Police. The current charges are in addition to his sentencing earlier in September in U.S. District Court on sexual assault charges for assaulting at least two children. He was sentenced in federal court to 30 years in prison after video of his assault on the children was found on his cell phone.
“After choosing to victimize innocent children for his own warped sexual gratification, this defendant has earned every day of the 30-year sentence imposed in this case,” remarked U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner at the time. “I truly appreciate the efforts of AUSA Parker King and Detective William Boliek, and the removal of this individual from free society is an important step towards making our District a safer place.”
The latest charges range from sexual battery, rape, fondling, child exploitation, conspiracy, and tampering with a witness.
If convicted on the state charges, Anderson faces a potential sentence of up to 305 years in state prison.
“Our children deserve a safe environment to grow up in,” said DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton. “We are committed to holding those predators who victimize our children for their twisted desires accountable. This indictment highlights our dedication to protecting our community, and I want to thank Detective Boliek for his efforts, once again, in removing this individual from our society.”
Anderson remains in jail without bond.
