Garden club assists in annual tree giveaway

By Emilie Michael

Members of the DeSoto Civic Garden Club (DCGC) recently took part in the annual tree giveaway that was held in February at the newly built DeSoto County Agri-Educational Center in Nesbit.

This popular community event supports environmental stewardship and beautification efforts across the Mid-South by distributing thousands of sapling-sized trees at no cost to local residents each year.

The young trees will eventually provide shade, improve air quality, and enhance neighborhoods throughout the region.

Four DCGC members happily volunteered their time to assist with the event. They were Emilie Michael, Sheila Deese, Dawn Weiss, and Dana Gossett. Their efforts helped ensure a smooth and successful tree giveaway for the many families who attended.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc.
