Elementary teacher’s assistant victim of illness
A staff member at a district elementary school in the DeSoto County School District (DCS) has died after a bout with an illness and some are saying the victim was battling coronavirus. The exact cause of death has not been confirmed, however.
The person who passed away apparently was a teacher’s assistant at Hernando Elementary School.
DCS issued a statement regarding the passing to DeSoto County News Tuesday which reads as follows:
“We are deeply saddened about the passing of a Hernando Elementary School teacher’s aide. She will be missed by all who knew her, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.”
DCS could not comment any further with specifics, identify the victim, or the cause of the death for privacy reasons.
Hernando Elementary is a school for kindergarten and first-grade students in the Hernando attendance zone.
Monday, DeSoto County Schools reported 81 new positive cases and 743 new quarantines in the past week through Nov. 13. There were 38 new staff members reporting positive cases in Mississippi’s largest public school district.
