Election commission seeks election workers 

The DeSoto County Election Commission is looking for those aspiring to be a part of the process by being an election worker on Election Day.  An election worker will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the process. 

Here’s more information on applying and qualifications.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Must be a registered voter in DeSoto County.
  • Responsibilities include greeting voters, verifying voter eligibility, and setting up and tearing down election equipment.

Training:

  • A mandatory 4-hour training session will be conducted between Sept. 23 and Oct. 4.  

Compensation:

  • Compensation is $200 for Election Day plus $25 for the training session.

Time Commitment:

  • Election Day work hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Additional Information:

  • The Election Commission is particularly seeking election workers for the role of Poll Managers, and Bailiffs.
  • This election cycle anticipates a larger voter turnout, necessitating the use of additional equipment that will require manning.
