DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office welcomes new prosecutor

Oct. 1, 2024 – Chase Morgan was officially sworn in today as a prosecutor for the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office, marking a new chapter in his legal career. The Honorable Gerald Chatham, Sr. administered the oath in a formal ceremony that welcomed Morgan to the team of prosecutors serving the 23rd Judicial District.
Morgan is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and earned his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law. His connection to the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office began during his time as an intern, where he honed his legal skills and gained valuable experience in criminal prosecution. After successfully passing the Mississippi Bar, Morgan is now ready to step into his role as a prosecutor.
“We are proud to add Chase to our prosecution team,” said District Attorney Matthew Barton. “He’s been a part of this office first as an intern and legal clerk, and we’ve seen his dedication and potential firsthand. His understanding of the law and commitment to serving this community make him a great asset to our team.”
Chase Morgan is eager to begin serving DeSoto County in his new capacity, building on the foundation of his academic accomplishments and legal training. As a member of the District Attorney’s team, he will contribute to the ongoing mission of pursuing justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
