County and municipal governments meet this week
Here are the agenda links for the respective city boards of aldermen and the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors. The boards are all scheduled to meet this week. The Board of Supervisors meets Monday morning at 9 a.m. and the Southaven, Horn Lake, and Hernando boards of aldermen meet Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Supervisors meet and will hear an update on the COVID-19 pandemic from EMS Director Mark and there will be consideration of extending the county’s state of emergency due to the pandemic. There will also be consideration of a public defender for circuit court. The board’s agenda is found on the official DeSoto County website.
The Southaven Board of Aldermen will consider a financial contribution to the Tri-State Compact Agency. Local governments have been discussing their part in the the compact of Tri-State governments in hopes of gaining more federal dollars for regional projects that benefits all three states. Olive Branch aldermen will hear about an ordinance that would establish a leisure and recreation district in the city and setting the district boundaries. There will be a recommendation for preliminary engineering services contract for the widening of Pleasant Hill Road from Church to Nail roads. Several planning and zoning items are also on the agenda, which you may find on the Olive Branch city website
Two part time kennel techs for the animal shelter are to be hired when the Hernando Board of Aldermen meets Tuesday evening. Hernando aldermen are also to consider participation in Tri-State Compact Agency. The complete agenda is found on the Hernando official website.
