Coffee roaster sales to promote nonprofit supporting women

Aug 17, 2024– A locally-owned coffee roaster is connecting with a Memphis-based nonprofit aimed at helping women battle addiction, homelessness and prostitution.

Ethnos Coffee Roasters, LLC and Sista2Sista announced the partnership on Saturday.

Tina Tatum, owner of Coffee Central and CEO/owner of Ethnos Coffee Roasters, says Ethnos will donate $1 from every retail bag of premium coffee sold directly to Sista2Sista.

“This partnership is about more than just coffee,” Tatum said. “It’s about empowering women locally and globally. From the women who grow our beans in Guatemala and other countries to the women who benefit from Sista2Sista’s services here in Memphis, we are united in our mission to uplift and support one another.”

Sista2Sista is a nonprofit organization based in Memphis dedicated to helping women overcome drug addiction and prostitution. The nonprofit provides services and support to help women transition to safer, healthier lives.

The organization’s drop-in center offers a safe space for women to receive the care and resources they need to start their journey toward recovery and empowerment.

Sista2Sista founder Trisha Henderson operates the drop-in center where women facing drug addiction and prostitution can find resources such as showers, meals, and the inspiration to turn their lives around.

The funds raised through this initiative will directly support these services, helping women transition from the streets to safe housing and healthier lives.

“This partnership with Ethnos Coffee Roasters is a dream come true,” Henderson said. “Each bag of coffee sold not only helps to fund our programs but also spreads awareness about our mission. It’s a beautiful example of how women can come together to create lasting change.”

The high-quality coffee beans are sourced from women-owned farms ensuring that every step of the coffee production process is women-driven. These farmers are part of a global network of women who are transforming their communities through sustainable farming practices and economic independence.

Ethnos Coffee Roasters is also introducing a newly-designed coffee bag that features the Sista2Sista logo and website. The design was crafted by Tatum’s daughter, who owns a creative design business. Her work captures the essence of this collaboration, blending artistry with purpose to create a visual representation of the mission.
