Classes Canceled After Body Found on Delta State University Campus; Investigation Underway
CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University officials have confirmed that a deceased individual was discovered on campus earlier today.
According to a statement from the university, staff members reported the discovery and immediately notified University Police and local authorities, who are now conducting an active investigation into the incident.
“At this time, we have no further details to share,” the statement read. “Out of respect for the individual and their loved ones, we will refrain from additional comment until authorities release more information.”
The university expressed its condolences to those impacted, noting the community is “deeply saddened by this loss.” Counselors and support services are being made available for students, faculty, and staff through the O.W. Reilly Counseling Center.
In response to the incident, all Centennial events and classes scheduled for today have been canceled.
Officials emphasized that the campus remains safe and assured the community that updates will be shared when appropriate.
