Christmas in Coldwater to highlight Beale St. Quartet

The spirited sounds of the season will be the highlight of the “Christmas in Coldwater” concert set for Dec. 12 at 7 p.m., featuring the “Beale Street Quartet,” one of the most sought-after Memphis-based ensembles for weddings, corporate events, and parties.

The group performs both classical music, as well as original arrangements of popular contemporary songs, bringing a level of artistry and professionalism guests are certain to notice.

The musical evening will take place in the historic setting of Coldwater United Methodist Church, 558 Central Avenue in Coldwater.

Included in the Beale Street Quartet are violinists Yennifer Correira and Diane Zelickman Cohen, viola player Aaron Tubergen, and cellist Iren Zombor.

Pastor Margaret Hicks said the yuletide celebration is special in more ways than one.

“This year the church turned 175 years old,” Hicks said. “This beautiful historic church deserves beautiful music to celebrate the Christmas season. This Beale Street Quartet has become a staple of music and celebration in Memphis. They perform in some of the biggest venues in Memphis, including the Orpheum Theatre, and here they are bringing the sounds of the season to Coldwater.”

Hicks said she is hopeful many more concerts are in store for this growing, yet historic, community.

“What we hope to see happen is that Coldwater United Methodist Church has regular concerts and celebrations and becomes known for joyful noise,” Hicks said.
