SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto has officially opened an expanded Women’s Health Center, moving its mammography services into a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the patient experience.

The new suite is approximately 5,000 square feet, more than doubling the department’s previous 1,500-square-foot location across the street in the main hospital. It is located on the campus of Baptist-DeSoto at 363 Southcrest Circle,, Suite 303.

“We are just… little over doubling our space,” said Robin Simpson, director of radiology at Baptist-DeSoto.

The center now features three brand-new, state-of-the-art mammography units and two new ultrasound units. While the department did not expand its services, it upgraded its technology to continue providing full diagnostic screenings, biopsies, and bone density testing.

Brian Hogan, the hospital’s CEO and administrator, called the women’s imaging center one of the hospital’s “highest functioning departments,” screening more than 25,000 people annually.

“These ladies are one of the best faces that we have in the hospital,” Hogan said, praising the staff for helping diagnose patients or providing “the peace of mind that they don’t have any issues.”

Hogan added that the new location offers significant patient-focused upgrades, including “all new furnishings” and “lots better parking.”

Simpson stressed the importance of the center’s mission, urging women not to delay routine screenings.

“Mammography is very important. That is how we catch our breast cancers early,” Simpson said. “Women really need to prioritize getting their screening mammograms, so that if they should have a small cancer, we catch it when it is small… it’s so much easier to treat.”
