Aldermen to begin new terms on July 1

The new terms of DeSoto County municipal boards of aldermen are about to begin and the new boards will be sworn into office over the next few days.  

Hernando aldermen and Mayor Chip Johnson will gather on Sunday, June 29 to be sworn into office at the Gale Center, beginning at 4 p.m. Southaven’s new board and Mayor Darren Musselwhite will be sworn into office the following afternoon, Monday, June 30, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Snowden House in Snowden Grove Park.  

Horn Lake will do the swearing in of new Mayor Jimmy Stokes and the newly elected group of aldermen at the start of the Tuesday, July 1 meeting at City Hall. 

Olive Branch will have their swearing in of Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen at the start of their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 1, beginning at 6 p.m. During the meeting, the board will enter executive session to reappoint the police chief and fire chief, city judge and city clerk. Following that, the board will return to general session and Adams will do the swearing in of those positions. 

All terms will officially begin on July 1 and will be for four years.
