The Olive Branch Police Department said it attended a Plantation Property Owners Association meeting with other city departments and Alderman Dale Dickerson to discuss crime statistics and community information.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and city public safety departments warned Monday that a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for DeSoto County until 8:30 p.m., and that the storm could produce a tornado with little or no warning.

The Olive Branch storm shelter is open March 15 and will be staffed by the Olive Branch Police Department beginning at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Ken Adams said. Residents were urged to sign up for mobile alerts.

Community safe rooms across DeSoto County will open this afternoon as a precaution against severe weather, including Horn Lake Elementary at 5:30 p.m.

DeSoto County officials said a tornado watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Monday and urged residents to remain weather aware and have a safe place to shelter.
