DeSoto County Government will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Day and Tire Recycling event Saturday at the Landers Center from 8 a.m. to noon.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the City Municipal Court Building, the city said. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

Sunkissed Serenity in Hernando announced discounted multi-service packages and 50% off spray tans for May, the spa said.

Organizers say the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend will take place May 2-3 at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial to honor 204 firefighters who died in the line of duty.

The Olive Branch Police Department said in a social media post that officers, Mayor Ken Adams and community members began the 2026 Special Olympics Torch Run, praising athletes and volunteers.

The Olive Branch Police Department said it attended the 2026 DeSoto County Public Safety Fallen Hero Memorial to honor families of public safety personnel who died in the line of duty.

Northwest Mississippi Community College said all campuses and offices will be closed to students and the public on May 1 for an employee appreciation day. The college directed people to its website and chatbot for questions and said campuses will reopen May 4.

The college said it traded office chairs for kickball on Employee Appreciation Day and thanked faculty and staff for their dedication.

The Southaven Chamber of Commerce announced that Londyn Schumacher took first place and that her photos will be displayed at the chamber offices in May and at the chamber’s August Quarterly Luncheon.

The Olive Branch Country Club said the pickleball portion of its Par Wars event has been canceled, but the golf component will go on Monday. Organizers encouraged attendees to wear costumes and use the event for networking.
