Southaven officials have canceled the outdoor Easter Egg Hunt amid rain concerns but will host indoor Easter Bunny photos at the BankPlus Sports Center on April 4.

Jonathan Bigham of the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department will be the keynote speaker at the Grits & Government breakfast on April 23, organizers said. The event is sponsored by Bazar’s Bakery & Restaurant and Aftrglo Medical Aesthetics.

Organizers said the annual Playing With a Purpose golf tournament raises funds for programs at The Arc Northwest Mississippi. Participants can enter as a team or sponsor the event.

Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Board of Aldermen will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at the City Municipal Court Building, the city said. The meeting is open to the public and will be live streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

The City of Olive Branch said Monique LaBonte has joined its Animal Shelter and Animal Control Department, a move welcomed by Mayor Ken Adams and the Board of Aldermen.

Organizers said a pancake breakfast and character meet-and-greet featuring the Easter Bunny and SpongeBob SquarePants friends will be held tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at Longview Point Baptist Church. All proceeds will benefit Hernando Parks, organizers said.

The Olive Branch Police Department offered condolences to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department after Deputy Michael Jimerson was killed in the line of duty last night, the department said. The city identified Mayor Ken Adams in the statement and said Jimerson’s family and colleagues were in its thoughts and prayers.
