Northwest MarCom staff takes home awards from CPRAM

Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing took home 10 awards on May 20 in Bay St. Louis at the annual CPRAM (College Public Relations Association of Mississippi) Conference and Awards Gala. The awards competition honors the best print and electronic media entries from the state’s two- and four-year schools. Northwest competed in the junior division for community and junior colleges.

First place in news story went to Director Emeritus Julie Bauer of Hernando for her piece on the naming of the Heindl Center, “Board Honors President with Naming of Heindl Center.”

First place in the sports news story was awarded to Sports Information Director Brian Lentz of Hernando for his piece “Northwest Captures First Region 23 Championship.”

Graphic Designer Jennifer Corbin of Lambert, former Assistant Director of Communications for Digital Media Alyssa Pirani of Hernando, Associate Vice President of Community Relations Dr. Andrew Dale of Hernando, Communications Specialist Sarah Ashley Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Video Coordinator/Digital Media Specialist Matthew Mixson of Auburn, Alabama won first in the viewbook/admissions & recruitment piece category for their “Find Your Path Viewbook.”

In first place for the brochure category was Graphic Designer/Communications Specialist Kevin Pitts of Senatobia and Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Patti Gordon of Senatobia for their piece “Name a Space, Leave a Legacy Mailer.”

In first place for single piece of artwork sports, Pitts and Rodeo Coach Will Lummus of Byhalia won for the 2023 “Bull-A-Rama Poster.”

Mixson won first place in non-sports promo/hype video for his “2023 Entertainers Promo” and second place in television spots for “2024 Northwest All N Commercials.”

In the photograph category, Smith won second place for her photo “Sliding into Spring.”

In the social media – non sports category, Assistant Director of Social Media and Strategic Communications for Digital Media Carly Fox of Hernando, Pirani, and Smith took home second for Northwest’s flagship Instagram page.

Third place in single piece of artwork non-sports was awarded to Pitts and Corbin for their piece on “Diesel Technology & Industrial Automation Murals –Batesville Concourse.”

Northwest also had three appointees to the CPRAM Board of Directors: Dr. Dale was appointed as vice president of CPRAM, while Fox and Smith were named co-chairs of the CPRAM awards competition.
