Two die in plane crash near Holly Springs airport

On Sunday, Jan. 18, a small plane crashed near the Holly Springs-Marshall County Airport in Holly Springs, Mississippi, resulting in two fatalities.

The crash occurred around 5:00 p.m. in a wooded area south of the airport, specifically near the intersection of Bishop Road and Bicycle Road.

Current Details of the Incident

  • Casualties: The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both individuals on board the aircraft were killed. Their names have not yet been released.
  • Location: The wreckage was discovered south of the runway in a rural area of Marshall County.
  • Response: Emergency services and the Sheriff’s Office secured the site quickly after reports of a downed aircraft.
  • Investigation: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to take over the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. As of Sunday evening, no information regarding the aircraft’s flight path or mechanical state has been released.
